When you think of a hovercraft you might think of the massive military vehicles that are used and tested in California. The military uses these incredible monstrosities to be able to move cargo and personnel closer to the shores of wherever they happen to go, but these big vehicles aren’t useful on a lake and they aren’t built for fun. In fact, while these hovercrafts have a purpose and fill a need for the military, the one we’re going to talk about today gives you a hilarious and fun way to think about hovering above the water.
A Hovercraft You can buy on eBay
Since the beginning of the decade, there has been a hovercraft that’s been driving around on the water, giving us a look at something unique and different. This hovercraft is now listed on eBay for $45,000 and for the fun and use of a craft that hovers above the water you might feel this is an affordable price for the experience you’re going to enjoy. The interest in this amazing vehicle will be in what it’s made from to give you the fun and experience you want when you get on the water.
The hovercraft in the video below and on sale at eBay is made from a DeLorean. Yes, it’s made from the same car that we saw in the movie franchise of Back to the Future and that makes it an interesting vehicle to see on the water and one that could be a lot of fun for you to experience when you get behind the wheel and take this model out on the water. This model now comes with a long list of new parts that are made to make it even better upon the water.
The Creation of a Hovercraft Time Machine
There’s a bit of Back to the Future nerd in all of us and the hovering DeLorean was built by a man in San Francisco named Matthew Riese. He first made the vehicle by hand to look like it does with a fiberglass and Styrofoam shell on top of what is an original Universal Hovercraft UH-13P. Since he began the project, Riese has continued to improve upon the design to make it more interesting and more functional on the water. This vehicle is one that you might want to take out for a spin and some lucky person will be glad to have it.
Specs of the DeLorean Hovercraft
This impressive vehicle has a 36-inch rear fan that pushes it which is linked to a Briggs & Stratton Vanguard commercial engine. There’s also a 24-inch lift fan that receives power from a Briggs & Stratton 875 Series engine. The lift is between six and eight inches and it can skate over any flat surface you can find. Riese claims it can reach a top speed of 31 mph on the water for you to have a lot of fun if you happen to be the one that buys this impressive hovercraft.
