Battle of the Family-Friendly SUVs: The 2024 Nissan Pathfinder vs. Kia Telluride

Are you looking for that SUV that not only gives you the space you need for all your family travels but also looks cool and comes loaded with features?

You might want to consider the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder or the 2024 Kia Telluride. But which one is better for you? Take a look.

Capability on the Road or Off?

When you’re on the hunt for an SUV for a family, it’s likely that you’ll need to drive around town, on the highway, and even over some rough terrain if your family likes adventure. The Nissan Pathfinder offers the Rock Creek trim level with all-terrain tires, extra horsepower, and standard all-wheel drive. It also adds a tow-prep kit that bumps towing capacity to 6,000 pounds just in case you want to bring extra gear, a boat, or camper with you.

The Telluride has the X-Line and X-Pro models with all-wheel drive, a slightly lifted suspension, and an upgraded version of the traction control system. The X-Pro also increases its towing capacity to 5,500 pounds.

Tech Features Galore

No matter where you’re headed, technology will most likely play a key role. Both the Telluride and the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder come with lots of modern tech features. The entry-level Pathfinder S has an 8-inch touchscreen and an infotainment system that works with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but you can get a 9-inch display if you have the SL or higher. A 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster is available along with wireless charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a household-style power outlet.

The Telluride might have a slight edge here if you like a large touchscreen. It comes standard with a 12.3-inch screen. You’ll also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a six-speaker stereo system. If you want to bump up to a higher trim, such as the SX, you can also get a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and an upgraded stereo system.

Safety Always Comes Standard

Safety is essential whether you have your SUV loaded up with your family and friends or you’re driving along. Both the 2024 Nissan Pathfinder and the Kia Telluride some standard with advanced driver aids such as forward collision warning with automatic braking, lane-departure warning, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert.
There are just a few differences in the standard and optional equipment for each of these models. The Pathfinder comes standard with rear parking sensors and rear automatic braking, and you’ll get adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist if you have the SV or above. The Telluride makes the adaptive cruise control standard.

It’s About the Cabin Comfort

You can fit up to eight people in the Pathfinder if you have the second-row bench seat, and everyone can stay comfortable with the standard three-zone automatic climate control. The Telluride also has three rows and room for up to eight people. It comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery, with extras such as heated front seats and a power-adjustable driver’s seat in the S or above.
