5 Incredibly Creative Halloween Costumes

Who doesn’t love Halloween? Whether you’re a kid or an adult, it’s hard not to get caught up in the spirit of this spooky and fun holiday.

With pumpkin carving, movies like Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas, all things pumpkin spice, fun, creative, and Halloween costumes this is a great time of the year.

Every year, people across the country dress up for parties, school events, and of course, trick or treating. And one of the biggest questions of the Halloween season is what costume to pick. There is always the staples-Batman, Superman, a princess, a cowgirl, a dinosaur. And while those costumes are great, sometimes you just want something a little more unique or creative that will have heads turning. But it can be hard to find the perfect idea to fit your personality and your interests. If you’re looking for a great, original costume this Halloween, check out the five listed below.

Starbucks Drink Costume

1.) A Starbucks Drink

These days, it’s difficult to find someone who hasn’t had at least one Starbucks drink in their life. The immensely popular chain reaches into every state in the US, and not only are its drinks delicious, but they can also make a great Halloween costume. A tan or brown dress, shirt, or cardboard cylinder can make the outside of the cup, and white tissue paper, feathers, or folded foam can make the top of the drink. Many people opt to add a straw to the costume, using green construction paper to make a tube or painting a cardboard paper towel tube green. This costume is relatively simple and inexpensive to make and would look great on a kid or an adult.

Gumball Machine Costume

2.) A Gumball Machine

A gumball machine is a “sweet” idea for a Halloween costume! Colorful and fun, this costume typically starts with a red skirt and white shirt to give the resemblance of the candy machine. Then, crafters can find a rectangular piece of grey felt and attach it to the skirt to make the slot for the coins. Black and white felt can add further details to the slot, such as a level to turn for a gumball or a “25¢” decal. Then it’s time for the gumballs. A hot glue gun and pom-poms of all different colors will complete the outfit. This costume is super cute, and the candy theme goes perfectly with a fun night of trick-or-treating.

Ceiling Fan Costume

3.) A “Ceiling Fan”

Being a ceiling fan for Halloween might sound boring and weird, but this suggestion is actually a play on words. Instead of dressing up as the spinning object on your ceiling, dress up as a supporter, or a “fan” of the ceiling. It’s a very simple idea that doesn’t take a lot of time or effort to create, but it is still creative and fun. Dressing up like a cheerleader with signs and flags reading “Go ceilings!” and “Ceilings are number one!” will get you started, and you can add pompoms and streamers if you like. Choose this clever costume for your Halloween activities, and you’re sure to get a laugh out of anyone you meet.

BLT Sandwich Costume

4.) A BLT Sandwich

This costume is great for a group or family of five since there are five parts to a BLT sandwich – two pieces of bread, one piece of lettuce, one piece of bacon, and one tomato. It is a fun, delicious-looking costume that gives each member of the group an individual role with an overarching theme to tie them all together. A lot of times, these food outfits can already be found made and can be purchased, but you always have the option of creating your own, too. A similar costume would be a s’more, with the components, two graham crackers, a marshmallow, and chocolate, being divided between four people. You can never go wrong with a group costume!

Rocket Costume

5.) A Rocket Blasting Off

Some of the most clever and fun Halloween costumes are the ones that offer an optical illusion, trying to make it seem like someone is carrying their head or sitting when they’re really standing. A costume where someone is attached to a rocket blasting off is one of these. Cover your legs with yellow, red, and orange streamers to replicate the fire that comes out of a rocket, and attach a silver backpack to your back to make the rocket itself. Under your shirt or on your chest, attach a fake pair of legs so it looks like you are floating. This is a fun costume that will have people scratching their heads as they catch a glance of you. There are tons of Halloween costumes out there, and just a few of the most creative, unique ones are listed above. Whatever costume you pick this year, and however you choose to celebrate the holiday, have fun!
