We’ll be breaking down some of the unsuspectingly fantastic eats in this southern city.

Main Street Meats

Located on East Main Street, this unassuming eatery was once home to the world’s first Coca-Cola bottling plant. When now owners, Erik and Amanda Niel took over ownership of this butcher shop and charcuterie, they brought Erik’s Louisiana soul food and Amanda’s Chattanooga charm with them. Now, fans of Louisiana can enjoy premium cuts of meat paired with a signature cocktail. Two fan-favorite dishes you must try? The Pork Rinds and Local Beef Burger. You and your palate will not be disappointed.

Hickory Pit Bar-B-Que

If you’re in the mood for a good old fashioned southern barbecue then look no further than Hickory Pit Bar-B-Que off of US-41 and Ringgold Rd B. Hickory Pit first opened in 1984 and they’ve continued to stick with its promise of southern hospitality and good eats. If you go, you have to try the baby back ribs, which are cooked to perfection and fall off the bone pure goodness.

The Purple Daisy Picnic Cafe

Located at the bottom of Lookout Mountain, The Purple Daisy Picnic Cafe is a vibrant little spot that will instantly boost your mood. They offer a wide array of sandwiches including their famous Rainbow Sandwich made with a layer of homemade chicken salad, pimento cheese, and a cucumber spread. You won’t find a more summer-worthy place to relax after a day of exploring.

Opa

Maybe Greek food is your cup of tea. The locals are a huge fan of Opa located on River Street. You’ll find authentic Greek food freshly prepared including spanakopita that guests have been known call “out of this world.” But, hey, go try out Opa for yourself and make sure to grab a slice of their America meets Greece dessert: a slice of chocolate cake topped with flaky and sweet baklava.
