International Circus Hall of Fame – Peru, Indiana
Just over an hour north of Indianapolis in Peru, Indiana, you’ll find the International Circus Hall of Fame. The museum sits on the former grounds of the Wallace Circus and the American Circus Corporation Winter Quarters offering visitors a look at a forgotten time.
You can see equipment that was once used by the Ringling Brothers back in the early 1900s. Take a look at restored circus wagons, photos, and the outfits that the performers once wore.
Idaho Potato Museum – Blackfoot, Idaho
Yes, there is a museum in Idaho that is dedicated entirely to potatoes. It’s only fitting that it resides in the potato capital of the world, as it pays homage to all things potato you’ll find this museum in the building that once houses the Oregon Short Line Railroad Depot. It features exhibits that showcase the history of the veggie along with the growing and harvesting process.
Artifacts at the musuem include a collection of potato mashers and the largest potato crip. Visitors can head to the Potato Lab to conduct experiments and then get their fill of baked potato at the cafe.
Spam Museum – Austin, MN
Whether you’re a fan of Spam or not, a visit to the Spam Museum in Austin, MN, will be entertaining. This museum is all about the iconic navy blue can and all that it represents. You can explore the museum on your own or take a guided tour to learn more about Spam and its history.
There’s a play area for kids, and lots of interactive exhibits with games and quizzes for the older kids and adults.
National Bobble Head Hall of Fame and Museum – Milwaukee, WI
The National Bobble Head Hall of Fame and Museum packs thousands of bobbleheads in to a small, well-organized space. It started when two friends started to collect bobbleheads in 2004 and ten years later they had several thousand between the two of them.
With so many in their collections, they decided it was time to share them with the world and opened up the museum in 2019. Visitors are treated to bobbleheads representing all their favorite athletes, actors and actresses, presidents, and characters.
International Banana Museum – Mecca, California
Coachella Valley in California is known for its quirkiness, but no attraction in the area is as bonkers as the museum dedicated to bananas. It’s home to 20,000 items related to the fruit, including jewelry, sculptures, and even a record player.
The museum claims to have the largest collection of banana related items in the world, which, if you think about it, shouldn’t be a surprise. It may just be the only one, too.
